Family Pets:

Ravens are such misunderstood creatures. Crows are too distracted to rely on. Magpies flatly refuse sentimentality. Red Tailed Hawks will be a latter story.

Chapter 1:

Born and raised in the backwoods of the greenest countryside, a perfect setting for all manner of life, he experienced the thrill of an over-zealous imagination while living within the vast army of nature. After experiencing his first tree, he never came down.

His father taught him well, the dangers of tree climbing. Still, even though his mother constantly fretted, his father would always encourage him. And for that, he owed him. For, instead of shrinking from challenges, he taught him to take them head on.

Of all the things he learned from his step father, it all came from his adopted Grandfather. He knew Grandpa Arrin was tough. He knew what type of warrior this man was, and the battles raging on in his life. Grandpa Arrin was a legend, and not of the past. He had witnessed his generosity, his strength, and, above all, knew to stay clear of him when he was upset.

give me the herFinding At the age of five, he was often found within a tree. Oh, he had his favorites, but accepted the challenge to climb any size and type of tree in his entire world. And, in this, he exceled.

Combining the elements of daydreaming with the see, hear and feel of an unbridled, less tamed back yard intrigued him during the daylight hours . . . terrified him during the dark of night.

Upon the bedrock within The Deep rages another of my species, my greatest challenge yet, both dark and fel; a foe rising up to champion its master, as I am a champion for mine. Its hatred for me spans far into the past. We are both come as unyielding champions of our cause. We - my foe and I - have many things in common, and our knowledge of each other spanns back through many years. Perfectly do we understand one another. The only different between us is - well - everything. I am just one of the pieces set to counter this foe. There are thirty-one other pieces on the board; a long since played out history. I am a late player, as is this foe raging before me.

Fluency in this world comes at a price. So does everything we do. A simple output demands a simple consequence, and a complex output demands a complex consequence. Consequences can be both good and bad.

I envision Gandalf standing upon a narrow span of rock, defending his loved ones. He was the counter balance, and was now being weighed in the balance.

If you have not, and already fallen in love with the topography and weather patterns of inland-coastal Oregon, you will. Oh, the adventure stories of my childhood! I will share them as I may.
